My Favorite London Cafes

Hello all! It’s Sydney again-this time bringing you a guide to London coffee.

It’s no secret that Londoners love a good cup of tea. Don’t get me wrong, I like tea. In fact, I love tea. But I just so happen to like coffee WAY more. Before I came to London, a friend told me that there was no good coffee in the city. Simply put, she was wrong. London has a vibrant specialty coffee scene and you can find a good cafe in nearly every neighborhood. Whether you prefer coffee or tea, these London cafes have something for everyone. These are my go-to London cafes.

Mouse Tail Coffee Stories, Deptford

Located right by Deptford Market, Mouse Tail Coffee Stories hosts a quirky, welcoming space with amazing coffee. Mouse Tail has numerous locations all over the city, but the Deptford location has become my favorite because it is super close to where I live in New Cross. They also have a lot of seating, including a super comfortable couch. I highly recommend their oat milk flat whites!

One Shot Coffee, Camden Town

Camden is one of my favorite neighborhoods in London. There is so much to do and see in Camden, and so much to eat and drink. One Shot is one of many amazing coffee spots in Camden, but this is my favorite based on the friendly staff, availability of seating, and creamy lattes.

TAP Coffee No. 114, Fitzrovia

TAP Coffee is nestled in Fitzrovia, a bustling neighborhood in central London. It is just a five minute walk from one of my classes in Senate House, so it has become my go to spot before class. TAP has some of the best cold brew in the city plus a wide variety of sandwiches, pastries, and sweets. The space has an industrial feel to it, complete with vintage bikes and tin cans for sugar jars. I recommend trying a roast beef sandwich and an iced latte.

Origin Coffee Roasters, Shoreditch

Shoreditch is host to a wide variety of cafes for every person’s taste. My favorite is Origin. They are located a little off the main road in Shoreditch, allowing for less commotion in and around the cafe. They offer the classic espresso drinks and a wide variety of pastries. Try a cappuccino and a toasted peanut butter banana sandwich, trust me on this.

Mughead Coffee, New Cross

Last, but certainly not least, is Mughead Coffee. Located in my neighborhood of New Cross, Mughead has become my favorite cafe in all of London. The staff are baking fresh cinnamon rolls all day, so the cafe smells divine. Plus, the staff are super friendly which adds to the comforting atmosphere inside. I could not recommend their salted caramel banana bread enough, I dream of that banana bread. They display art by Goldsmiths students downstairs, so be sure to check that out during your visit!

Thank you for reading! I hope I inspired you to check out some of these cafes next time you are in London. Check out the video above to see more of these amazing cafes!

Until next time!
